Our sweet little guy is officially 2 years old! In some ways it seems like we just brought him home from the hospital and in other ways it seems like a lifetime ago. We are so beyond thankful for this sweet little life and his presence in our family.
Here’s some highlights on our little guy as of now:
Loves:
-His sister Ali. He will literally spend 15-20 minutes playing “fetch” with her or chasing her....which in toddler years is like a lifetime. He also loves to snuggle with her, though it doesn’t last long since he’s not super gentle
-Being outside. He could spend all day outside and really isn’t bothered by the cold at all.
-Riding his bike. He has a little 3 wheel balance bike he got for his half birthday and he is soo speedy on it. He loves to go for loops around the block.
-The Zoo. There aren’t many places I’m comfortable taking him with the pandemic but the zoo has generally done a great job keeping everyone safe and we feel a little more comfortable since we go when it’s not crowded usually and we stay outside mostly.
-Reading. Griff will literally spend an hour or more sitting in our laps and having us read to him. He LOVES his books.
-Sweets. We generally haven’t let him have sweets, but let him have “real” birthday cake (last year was no added sugar/wheat). He LOVES his sweets like his mama
-Camping. Griff loves to go camping and hiking (and now chooses to hike on his own a lot vs being in the carrier - which makes hikes a little slower ).
-He’s still a bit of a mama’s boy (which mama loves 🥰), but definitely loves his daddy too.
-He loves the water & swimming! He is a bit of a daredevil with the water so we have to really watch him closely.
-Playing with his cousins 🥰
-Favorite foods: Applesauce/Apples (Doesn't like the skin though), Strawberries/Blueberries, Salmon Patties, Broccoli. He’s generally a pretty good (knock on wood) eater and eats most of what we eat, but does love pizza and chicken nuggets (especially Chick-fil-A!) when he gets them, like any kid. And he definitely still has his days where he can be picky like any toddler
Some things Griff has gotten to do over the last few months:
-Went to Shenandoah National Park, Outer Banks, & the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
-Went camping at Spring Mill State Park and Heritage Lake.
-Went tubing for the first time at Heritage. He loved it and even tried to jump in the water at the end!
-Celebrated Halloween by dressing up as Pluto (mama made his costume) and going to Zoo Boo the next day
-Celebrated Thanksgiving with close family - due to the pandemic we tried to limit how many people we saw
Due to the pandemic we didn’t celebrate Griff’s birthday as big as we usually would, however we made sure to still celebrate our sweet boy in a fun and safe way ♥️
We hosted a small thanksgiving for my immediate family on thanksgiving day and celebrated with Tims immediate family the next day. We had a small cake at both to sing to Griff and Griff got to open some presents from family. He LOVED singing happy birthday to himself with his family and was a big fan of devouring every last bite of his cake and playing with his new toys. We opted not to do a separate party to try to limit exposure and keep everyone as safe as possible, but we did celebrate just us 3 too which was sweet and special. The Saturday evening before his birthday we treated Griff to Chick-fil-A and went over to Hummel Park to see the Christmas lights before coming home to watch Toy Story. On Griff's actual birthday, we had homeade cinnamon rolls and sang to him when he woke up. We spent some time playing around the house and then mama and Griff went to Build A Bear and Griff built a birthday bear and got a Buzz outfit for it! He also got to ride one of the mall rides (a train) and got Chick-Fil-A before taking a nap. After Griff's nap, we spent time making cupcakes and had a quick pizza dinner and then before heading to Christmas at the Zoo. It was a pretty chilly night (30s) but you were bundled up in lots of layers and you didn't mind - you were just happy to see the lights and animals! We came back home to watch a little of the Polar Express before heading to bed.
Though this birthday wasn't quite what we pictured for you, we loved getting to celebrate you and have loved watching you grow. We can't wait to see where life takes you and pray continually for God to watch over you and for you to grow to know him better as each day goes by. We love you sweet Griffy Bear!
